Hello All,
Just got my fancy new knife sharpening kit from a company called Razor-Edge systems.
Wow, it was so impressive that i had to,,,,,HAD TO give a big thumbs up for this guy, and his investigative skills into edges. The book "The Razor Edge Book of Sharpening" by John Juranitch leaves no stone unsharped. He has put together a book of the science of blade sharpening, and the tools to do so. Just the book alone is impressive, but the kit itself will sharpen any blade. Not only that,,,the most important thing that i've taken away from the book so far, is understanding clearly the mechanics of the edge...The book is complete, comprehensive, and enjoyable to read through, and once you've tried out the techniques, all of your blades will have incredible edges...ask my wife, even her scissors, and sewing needles are sharp as hell. I was in the dark as to why my knives couldn't hold an edge, or stay sharp, or require sharpening often. I thought it was the steel.
Well, finding out that steel has NOTHING to do with the edge, and finding out that knife makers are not exactly edge makers has put a whole new light on the subject of edges.
He gets rid of all the old wives tales about blade sharpening.
big thumbs up from the G.
