Its hard for anyone to argue that muscle confusion is not better than same-old, same-old muscle memory.

What is different about it? Does the muscle confusion really just mean a whole bunch of exercises to rotate through? Bigger, better variety?

Okayyyy.
So in the end, you would make a list of ten exercises and do them?

"It has no performance component, merely an aesthetic goal. You cannot quantify muscle confusion, per se. "

I don't know. Changing up your work out program? With different exercises? Such as the Crossfit "WOD" workout of the day?

But if a person doesn't do some exercises...like the chin up thing...flipping tires...clean and jerks, and others, what do they physically do, to actually...well...exercise?

Like...
Kipping
Air Squats
Back Extension
Back Squat
Ball Slams
Barbell Snatch
Bar Muscle-up
Box Jump Variations
Burpee
Clean & Jerk
Pushups
Dips
Others
Change them up

After all the ...logarithms and, and thee...math, and ratios of oxygen consumption...a person does...exercises? In the bitter end, its just a list of changing exercises? Then what is the WOD?

Just a Crossfit World editorial on chin ups from 6 Feb, 2011...

"Torn palms. What causes it? Usually, it is caused by high rep pull-up workouts done by folks who have to use a HUGE kipping movement to perform a pull-up. The kipping pull-up is a fantastic gymnastic movement to get you from below the bar to chin over the bar. In gymnastics, it is performed all the time.... but not over and over again. A huge kip done in high reps is likely going to tear up your palms. If you get stronger at pull-ups, you won't have to use such a violent kip to get over the bar. The huge kipping pull-up is, in all actuality, a cheat to get a pull-up.  No offense to anyone, but the fact of the matter is that if you do a kip this huge, you do not have the strength to do a solid pull-up repeatedly."

(this is how this whole thread got started. I made a comment that if I had done chin-ups like these "kips" in the Army, they wouldn't have counted. But you know, you do have to start somewhere....)

If you dissect a typical 8 day x-fit cycle ( 3 days on , 1 off) you usually find 2 very low rep  - heavy weight multi joint exersise strength workouts,  2 conditioning circuits with explosive movements with light to  moderate weights  and 2  muscular endurance conditoning cricuits- very light weights or bodyweight (with or without running)  you can pretty much put in any exersises you want if you follow these guidelines- I cut it tto 4 days/ week- 2 pure strength days and 2 conditioning days- and it works out well- I  skip the light ot moderate weight type workoouts- to me  weights are for pure strength- if you are going to lift light to moderate weights you might as well just  do bodyweight movements

I do like the Kool-aid, but I cannot afford the cost of the Kool-Aid now.
Having to take the info learned & work on my own. I miss the comraderie with the others who suffered through the hard workouts.

BIG THING LEARNED:

You cannot sacrifice form for intensity, if you have any kind of injures or ailments.

CrossFit motto: "Sacrifice form for intensity" This is OK for young uninjured Bucks.

Do they really say that? If so...that's pretty retarded. How about "Train with intensity without hurting yourself by using bad form." I think that is a much more intelligent approach.
