No Lie Blades
« on: October 09, 2009, 08:40:04 PM »

Anyone out there trained with No Lie Blades?  Seems to add some reality, without the expense of the shock knife.  Just wanted some opinions.

Having re-read the original posts on this subject I thought I would comment on the no lies blade. I have been using this item for the last year or so in training and have found that there are pro's and con's with it.
I have solely used the marking blade in the hands of instructors in empty hands verses the knife scenarios, at the end of a training session to reinforce prior learning. This allows some visable feedback to participants hopefully on their success, in case they have missed being hit etc.
The visable marks also tend to encourage students when working before their peers, so that less commited or confident defenders tend to try harder to successfully defend themselves.
However as has been mentioned the over use of the item means that clothes get ruined from fake blood or lip stick, and the blades rapidly get "cleaned" on subjects meaning a reaplying of marker again and again.  :(
Slashes do show up far better than stabs just because of the nature or the item.
The blades are expensive and I have not had good experiences with the companies after sales service.
Overall the students tend to find the experience a positive one, and the marking blade system works well within it's limits to provide a more realistic experience.

We trained with them about seven or so years ago, then lost interest.  You can paint up any practice weapon with lipstick and practice.  It's fun and you get feedback, and it has enough weight to give a feel.  But it is solid and does not give so you have to pull your stabs and hacks.  Something that I hate doing!

The Bogner knife painted with lipstick lets you go full speed and power and the stabs show up pretty good.  But Bogner knife is not at all rigid, so six of one, half dozen of the other...

I have both and I'm pretty happy with them.
