Yea your right, The medical world is notorious for holding onto outdated techniques. For example a new one that is starting to surface.
Transporting patients on their side, even if they are attatched to a spinal board (as the board can be put on the side and strapped there) This is simply just a modified recovery position, to stop the patient aspirating. It is one of those things that just sounds like common sense (once it has been pointed out to you)
At the moment the vast majority of ambulances transport patients, on a spinal board, on their back. What if they vomit? you, by strapping them to the board have taken away their ability to simply turn their head and get rid of said vomit. so by having them lateral (on their side) you let good old gravity sort that out for you!
Hock,
Everybody says Hi, dad will be off again soon but as of now he is here, Gary finds out soon if he will be assigned to the Apache, so hes getting a bit nervous, as that is all he wants.
