It's "illegal" to make copies.
It's legal to sell your "one" used copy.

We keep an eye on people who sell more than one copy of anything. EBAY will shut them down and google will strip their URL off the internet searches.

Piracy is a GIANT problem to anyone who creates anything.
Thats why we have discontinued the Training Mission books. We made the mistake of selling them in cheap PDFs.  Talk about going viral!

Needless to say I am famous in China!

Hock-glad you are on top of this-it apears that most everyone is out to get a $$ out of the public using whatever they can to do this.

Wow, I'm way behind the curve...so does this mean no more TMs at all, or just no more PDF downloads? I'm finally to the point where I can devote some time and money to training. (I'd rather have the physical book in my hands, anyway)

Yup, no more of the Training Mission books, PDF of otherwise. We have been copied and ripped off so much, worldwide. I have to spend my time more wisely making and doing other things to put thee ol’ food on the table. It always comes down to that. In the big picture too. You can’t make the next Spiderman movie if no one pays to see it.

I do plan to make four very big books on Hand, Stick, Knife, Gun. The Knife book is done and will never be on PDF to TRY curtail some of this problem. Nor will the other bigger books be on PDF.

I will make some smaller “hardback” and small PDF manuals. For sale - which will of course, the PDF will still be sent to ten best friends and then on their ten best friends, and so on like a virus. Then slip on to Torrent, or China. But, these are so small in stature that they will not “destroy my economy.” I know when my internet ratings are VERY, very high and that is usually when something has slipped free on the net. we shut them down and my ratings drop.

This same problem somewhat ruins the music and book industry. Writers and musicians eventually, through the decades, dedicate less and less time creating and more time to daily survival. That creativity never gets honed to its full potential. Then you get Rap music. Then you get to like rap music. Mostly, moron lyrics for morons. Best selling books are written in “See Dick run. Jane sees Spot.” Seen the best seller list lately? Year in, year out, about the same 15 authors writing for fourth graders.

In an abstract way, this perversely, perceived  "right" to get stuff free and so forth is killing the world economies. USA. Greece. California. Labor Unions. Its the same thing. “I have a right to this or that.”

The old expression is when politicians make plans to rob Peter to pay Paul? Paul always votes for those politicians. The cycle begins. The world right now is filling up with Pauls. And Peter is getting damn tired. Hey, I just described Rand’s book, “Atlas Shrugged.” Too bad no one is smart enough to read it anymore. Smart enough to care.

ANyhoooooo...no more Training Mission books. For that matter, I’d give up the whole damn thing in a minute just to write westerns full time.

“Bang. See Dick Fall...Bang, Jane shot him down....Bang. Bang.”

Funny, I'm actually about a third of the way through Atlas Shrugged right now, and have been butting heads with a professor in my political philosophy class about the "right" to another person's intellectual property. Most of the class seems to agree with him, perhaps due to never having more than a part time job outside of academic life. Ayn Rand's work has been dismissed out of hand, too. Pity the professor hasn't even read the damn book before doing so!
Ever seen the movie "Idiocracy"? Tongue-in-cheek, but scary stuff.

/rant over

So will the new books be the source for the progressive levels of training? Or are the existing 10 Training missions still the source for that? (sorry if I'm not picking up what you're putting down, it's been a long week)

As for the pirates, I always thought it'd be a great idea to quietly plant falsified material within books, music, and movies, and then release those versions to the torrenting masses. Something like replacing the "how to" sections in the TMs with sections from old dance lessons and the 1040 tax return forms from 1968. Maybe a track on a record that screams "I'M A THIEF AND I'M TOUCHING MYSELF!!!" at full volume in the middle of a quiet ballad or right when the movie's getting good..

Of course, such things would have to be done in such a way to allow you to disavow all knowledge of such things and be shielded from any liability after some dork tried to win a fight with moves derived from the flamenco..

The Training Mission DVDs are really the best way to buy the 10 level courses if you are interested in more than one course. Oh, they will probably be around forever. The corresponding books will probably be around forever, but sold only with the DVD. Those are the core of the courses I teach.

In the CQC Group is more of the big blend, where one thing becomes four things as seamlessly as possible. Not much of that is on books or DVDs.

So far, only here:

(not so much the Multiple Opponents one)

And here:

Maybe more coming....

Thanks for the reply! Glad to hear the TMs will be around for some time so I can chip away at 'em.

You know I had a crime novel published in 1985 and did a few book signings here and there. A woman (and not a bad looking one at that) came up and asked me to sign the book this way....

"To Rosy, and the best night I have ever had!"
                                                                   W. Hock Hochheim

ahhh well....I did.
So far it has not come back to haunt me.
