could anyone tell me anything about the baton dvd in nick hughes dvd series? id like to know if it covers chokes and locks with the baton?

I don't recall any significant amount of stick chokes or stick locks.

Locks with a baton is a very tricky thing. Having to arrest people while holding a stick, as I have done, actually leaves little locking oppurtunites. I have dismissed about...ohhh. 70% of Filipino stick locks as being too tricky in real, hard core struggle-motion. Especially all those leg/stick, tap-out locks.

There may be a one or two stick chokes in the film? But I can't remember exactly.

I would agree with the Hock on that. My Arnis instructor didn't teach stick locks. I asked why and he said "are you a policeman?" I said 'not any more', he said "so why lock and restrain? Just knock him out or choke him... like THIS!"

We were taught some baton locks in the MPs but when your partner upped the resistance level, they mostly fell apart. The only time I have used one successfully for real was when my partner was distracting the crim with his face. I ignored the fist punching his face and locked up the arm holding him by the throat. Worked like a charm. Try that stuff by myself while engaged in a difference of opinion? No way. Hit him with the baton, then lock him up by sticking the point in his throat. That should work but it could get you a major law suit.
