Yes, he and Albert Timen do Kapap over here.  Chaim Pae'r or something like that is a Kapap guy in Israel.

Albert allegedly nabbed a terrorist with an explosives belt, apprehended him alive.  Avi Nardia does a lot of training with Jean J. Machado and is a quite talented martial artist, though I know nothing of his actual background in KM or Kapap.  I know the hatred runs deep between those in different Israeli circles, though!

Reading the article it seems that the problems occur in the claims of being a Member of Yamam, rather than of being an Instructor to Yamam.
Avi says he was an Intel NCO with Yamam and then rose to the rank of Major as an Instructor Trainer.
Mr Nir Maman has claimed Avi  says he,Avi, was a Member and Nir says Avi was Not.
They all seem to agree Avi was a Trainer.

Avi does have a lot of video of him working with Israeli Police,Border Patrol and Military, can be found on youtube, but after believing Moni I am leery to believe anything about these guys military service.
(definately those with a Wagner connection)

Avi started training as a kid in Israel under Moni Aizik in Judo,Jujitsu and Moni's Krav Maga.
Avi then became interested in Aikido and Kenjitsu/Kendo

Here are some of his rankings:
Avi Nardia KAPAP Combative 6th Dan Kendo 6th Koryu Uchin Dai Karate ... 5th Dan Iaido 5th Dan Jiu Jitstu 5th Dan Jodo 4th Dan Kyudo 3rd Dan Judo Black Belt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ... He has worked as: * Certified Olympic fencing Instructor (foil, Saber, epee) by Wingate Sport University * Certified Coach Wingate Sport University * Certified Fitness Instructor by Tel Aviv University * Certified Personal Trainer by Tel Aviv University * Certified Athletic Trainer Wingate Sport University * Member Israeli Rugby National team for 5 years along with other Top teams as Physiotherapist /Athletic trainer * Certified Sport Therapist Wingate Sport University * Certified Rappelling Instructor Wingate Sport University * Certified Diving Instructor * Certified in traditional martial arts and Israeli martial arts .

I have attended training with him and like his materials.

Avi has/had a Judo.BJJ/Kendo/Karate school in Rochester NY.
He has a KAPAP Academy in NY.
I think he might have a school in California also ?

Here are some pieces by Avi Nardia,in which he goes after those who claim to teach Reality based arts and or arts where they call themselves Commando.

http://realfighting.com/content.php?id=103

http://www.usadojo.com/articles/kapap-academy/mens-rea.htm

Here is a bit of what he has to say that I found of interest:

Self-defense is more complicated than most “reality based” martial arts claim it to be.

Today we see several new “reality based” Israeli systems showing up. Most of them run by “experts” in “Israeli Martial Arts.” Many students and consumers do not see that any solider of three years in the Israeli army can come to the US and become an Israeli MA “expert” by spending a great deal of money on marketing. They call themselves “commandos” with a “devastating system” and they plug their organizations with words like “International” attached to it.
Today’s students who want to study Israeli martial arts face the “want-to-be” market. It seems that all you need to do today is to put on some commando clothes and say “we are not a traditional martial art, we are a no nonsense martial art.” Does that mean traditional martial arts are nonsense?

After 5 years of teaching in the civilian market, I’ve seen so many krav “grand masters” handing out Black Belts to students who have studied for only a year or so. Few, if any, of these “grand masters” hold a black belt or knows anything about any other martial art such as Japanese Karate or Judo… but they do teach people how to get killed “in style.” KAPAP Academy is definitely NOT part of this festival of “grand masters.”

I know exactly what Israeli martial arts are – the good and the bad. The majority of the Israeli army doesn’t receive any hand-to-hand training. Only a few units receive some basic training, which is more to develop aggressiveness based on their power and not on any techniques. This is all done in a very limited amount of time.

Guys-couple thoughts-first i guess u all know I instruct and give seminars using the term
Krav Maga (contact combat)- but i do not pledge allegiance to IKMA or IKMF or commando or what ever- i stick to the generic term contact combat- over 10 years ago I did have a lttle contact by e  mail with Mr Nardi- at that time he seemed honest and i think he still is.

When I instruct in  KM tactics learned over the years I always tell the student that it is a mixture of all styles-to come up with close protection methods.

I hope that in the near future I will be able to be affiliated with a KM group but untill that I just tell it as I stated above.

As in many styles the group that states "mine is the only way" is actually behind the 8 ball-arragance, fear of another group taking over, greed, wanting to be the boss,
the only game in town  etc will always be around-

just look and pick what you know is good and works and train in it......

Morning shooter-what i was trying to say is there is so much bull shit and back stabbing in the KM community and for that matter in all martial arts that I personally will believe something when i see it and try it-if it works then fine if not oh well-on to something else-
for example- their is a standup jujitsu instructor here in town that many complained about  here as he had some work related problems-i have know him and am now taking lesons from him-
its working for me-

Have a base art and try everything you can.
See what and how things they do work and or are applied, maybe it will work for you, maybe not,but at least you know what you are seeing if you have to engage someone from another art and adapt your skills to win.

JimH- agree-try and see if it fits for you-students ask me do I teach Krav Maga- my responses is elements of it plus close quarter combat principles learned from many
instructors every where in the world. works for me .
I am a firm believer in the Hocks 5  w,s-and also Retzev (continuous motion)

@whitewolf

What I said is that Avi was not telling the truth. Not that he is good or bad instructor.
Because the man is really sick, its not the time or place to talk about it. I wish him good health and that he will fully recover from sickness.
