My dad would by me Doc Savage or "Kenneth Robeson" 's less well known hero, Avenger, whenever I was sick. I still have a few of those books on the shelf next to my Conan books and Man From U.N.C.L.E. paper backs.
Sadly my sons never got into them preferring to numb their brains with video games.

Doc Savage!
His image (with the FIRST Fortress of Solitute) inspired many of the subsequentt heros.
...being old school me like Dic, the Shadow and the Phantom.
They really need to do the Doc up right, a 3-D animated (based on Bama-esque art)
film
