That shoots down the idea that high heart rate screws you up-but you better be in top condition. ww

But no one is shooting at them.

It is not just a matter of heart beats per minute that degrades performance.  They are not in fear of their life so they are not going to suffer the same effects as someone who is.

Not everyone is Bill Jordan.

I think the point is that according to PPCT and followers no one should be capable of even hitting anything at that heart rate level, not that there wasnt anyone shooting back

Absolutely.  But when I see a poster with a UFC fighter putting another spandex fighter in a leg lock advertising PPCT ground fighting- with a ref and NO weapons in a cage, I gotta feel wary...

Advocates of the idea that you can't function beyond gross motor movement while under combat or other severe stress should consider the following examples of people who seem to do just fine in those situations.

Fighter pilots, surgeons, racing car driver's, etc.etc..

Fine motor skill's working well under increased heart rate and stress. It's very easy to jump on the band wagon of '' People can't cope ''. They can and do it's a fact.

This debate will run and run.

Quite frankly I think it has to do with skill level, I have met a scary number of police trainers that have very little talent, my personal belief is that they use the "loss of function" blurb to help cover the fact that they cant fight there way out of a wet paper bag
