Self-Defense Course
« on: February 08, 2010, 10:55:39 PM »

I just kicked off a 10-class self-defense course at my school. We had 21 people show and 6 registered no-shows due to weather or illness. Of the 21, 11 were not current students and 5 of them I had never met, brand new to the building. Nine were women between 35 and 56 years-old. They paid $200. for ten 90-minute classes. Current members got a discount of $50. off. Couples got a buy one/get one free deal for Valentine's Day.
If they complete the course and are interested, I will recommend Level 1 Unarmed promotions from Hock.
It was a blast! Hock, I stole shamelessly from your Citizen's Self-Defense layout. Not necessary for me to reinvent the wheel. Only tweaked the rims a bit to better fit my "root" art. :^) Thanks for your support, as always!

That is why I am here! Save on! And bless you for patience with the new folks. Important work.

It's not "mine." Its just universal material.
But a "tip of the hat" is all I might ask...

I now was asked to give a proposal to instruct at the athletic club where i gave the first seminar-
and today i was called to give a seminar to another fitness center in the same town-
i am working on that now-
as our forum members mentioned -word of mouth works wonders-much better than
paying money to put a add in the news paper-
next-if i get these two clubs i will contact the news and they will do a free article on my
style of teaching-
I always give a tip of the hat to Hock and his "civilian defense info"that i talk about-

The feeling's mutual!

Let me know when you're ready for me to head your way.

Of course, it sounds like you're going to be too busy to train with the Ol' Dawg, if you keep it up!

Go get 'em!

yup- getting busy-forgot to say- in all this i am working out with a boxing coach-
we use bass ruddens cd 2 minute punches/and also using knees-really tires me out-
went into the ring with a pro- (he took it easy on me)-bu moves tot its interesting to see how relaxed he was-i on the other hand was wound up like a xmas turkey compared to him-
he said though working with someone who has been in the ring will help me with balance,
and setting up for punches -they all teach here to be flat footed when you punch-
i have been adding the punches to some of the self defense tactics i teach-seems to work out-try to keep it simple as hell-no 6-7 moves to get um submitted.
if i had the $$ i would go to Isreal- was invited to train but the cost is high-between the flight -the school- and having FUN-too much for now..

Well=after 2 months more or less 2 athletic clubs accepted my proposal-so i start mid april-one 3 hours a week and the other 2 hours a week-i also was asked to go to nashville and possibly hold classes there-if this keeps up ill be in hog heaven-we will see i wont count my chickens till they hatch though. I got to start training more  though-
the more i learn the more i reolize their is so much to learn.

Kelly-thanks-what was a great piece of luck was that I used some of the ideas found here-specifically using "word of mouth" to advertise-i stopped using the news papers-cost was too much for nothing- plus while ttraining i met a guy who boxed in the army-he said "go to the biggest athletic club" and give your sales pitch-come to find out that no one ever went there-to ask to instruct-so i got to talk to the marketing director and gave af ree seminar-and here i am.  WW
