Homeland Security and Lost Guns
« on: February 19, 2010, 03:06:35 PM »

"WASHINGTON — The nation's Homeland Security officers lost nearly 200 guns in bowling alleys, public restrooms, unlocked cars and other unsecure areas, with some ending up in the hands of felons. The problem, outlined in a new federal report, has prompted disciplinary actions and extra training. Most of the misplaced weapons — including handguns, shotguns and military rifles — were never found. "Most losses occurred because officers did not properly secure firearms," says the Homeland Security inspector general report...."

I'd bet they are in the blackmarket now. Most guns that are stolen or lost end up in the black market. Maybe some homeland security agents deliberately sell their guns to the black market and using the term "lost or missing" as an excuse. Perhaps, they need to be held accountable and need something more severe than a slap in the wrist or reprimend. If a civilian like me with a permit lost that, I'd be charged and get my permit revoked, perhaps indefinitely. If I can't get special treatment, those in the law enforcement and govt. jobs don't deserve it either.
