Yeah, the long gun registry is getting scraped, it was supposed to only have cost 1 million to impliment and thus far has cost over 1 billion and done NOTHING, law abiding citizens dont have a habit of running around shooting people let alone with long guns.

Also, little known fun fact for ya, Canadians can and do apply for and are granted CCW permits in the US.

That is great info on the subject of gun control, and example of how blanket law does nothing to change the fact that criminals use guns, and LACs (law abiding citizens) need to have the right to choose their defensive weapons.  Now what about Australia?

In the US, there is another case challenging personal defense right to own firearm.  After supreme court ruled DC ban was unconstitutional, an old man who lives in the hood in IL is now challenging state law.  This could lead to a landslide repeal which would then roll back state restrictions!

Yep- i have a friend who buys collects and sells wpns-things are getting better for the citizen-what is bad is the bad guys are all over the  place-
sense more LAC's are armed crime seems to be going down-hope so.....

what is need now is more neighborhood citizens groups that patrol and report problems to the police.
Then the police can track better the areas that have problmes.......

I would like to see more road check points-but many would say that is against our rights

Tn has sobriety check points run by the state highway patrol-they annnounce the areas in the newspapers before hand-seems to help.......I dont see those check points up north at all........

Canuk, I wish your country the best in its quest to preserve its firearms rights. You have our full moral support.

Thanks VM, there have always been guns in Canada and lots of 'em too, depending on whos report you look at there is between 7-11 million legal guns here for a population of 33 million. Gun crime is low, but on the rise. Most of them smuggled across the border via First Nations. The city of Toronto has a liberal Mayor (huge assclown that has put that city in massive massive debt) he shut down all gun clubs in the 416 area code and all based on a shooting where one, ONE legal firearms owner went mad and killed someone, meanwhile the bangers were having a field day. The city lost millions in revenue from one of the annual hunting shows that comes to town. The show moved to the 905 area code to another venue, litterally minutes away from its first choice.

The liberals try to control guns via various and stupid Bills before parliment but at the end of the day they get pushed down.

I have some relatives there from Toronto and visited me and my family in VA Beach. We even hung out at the Oceanfront and even exchanged some ideas with one of my cousins who is also bald-headed like me and is also into self-defense/martial arts. He told me that it's getting worse there in Toronto everyday. I really don't know. He probably might be referring to some parts of Toronto, not Toronto in general. Once he visits again, I might introduce him to some firearms and would advise him and his family to really take a look at their area's local laws before deciding to get one.
Again, keep up the fight and keep the pressure on your politicians. If you guys win, it be a setback for the UN in trying to set up global gun control and a victory for gun owners outside the US, especially our northern neighbors.

Toronto is a tough town...in some places, google the jane and finch corridor, thats one of the worst areas. LOL several years I had just finished teaching a DT course and was headed to CFB ( Canadian Forces Base) Borden for more training, i really needed and I mean really needed to take a piss, the only place I could get to with out peeing myself was a mall, this mall was known for its gangs and guns problem. I parked my van and headed to the little Ninjas room. I was the only white guy there...dressed in black tac pants and the obliatory golf shift, I was in the place maybe five minutes. I come out and find three guys breaking into my van, i really didnt want them finding my toys, so I introduced myself to them at full speed and from behind, it was a short ugly fight. Needless to say I was late to my training!

Yes Toronto is getting worse, we have weak imigration laws that allow the assholes of teh caribean nations to enter here and ply there drug trade, they are violent and just dont give a shit. The firearms movement is actually growing in Canada. The currnet Federal Gov has scaped most of the Liberal gun contol Bills and is actually pumping money into the military. Canada will always stand behind the US, we have to much History to do otherwise, most of the Canadian population lives on the border or not more than an hour from it. We may have our differences but we are family

And we love Canada here on the west coast!  And the French-Canadian women are soo damn sexy too.  Add a nickel plated 45, the accent and the cold weather, and you have a calendar girl.

WW-neighborhood watch...especially when there are no cops around.  I read that Chilean quake survivors were armed and fending off looters.  Man what a good time to be carrying if you ask me.  In these uncertain times, we got an imminent threat of another attack the next few months, the possibility of another big disaster or quake, economic slump and crime.  It's a good time to carry yes sir-ee.

Little more on neighborhood crime watches- few years ago I helped organize a crime watch in a few places-one was in a area of brooklyn NY- i also participated in watches in NJ-they work-nothing else to say-i even started on in a trailor park in Tn-
it is paramount that the local Police help by giving speeches/staying in conact/and also patroling area-
the one is brooklyn had radio contact with their base station who was in contact with the precient-
all the watches had 2 walkers together and a specific area to walk and observe.
Actually it was a little like the old WWII air raid warden program-(i know you guys dont rememebr those- ;D
anyhow good luck Canada-it will get better if you all gather behind each other and push for reformm in the gun law  areas.
