Hock,
Here's a site dedicated to the show and at the bottom of the page has links to all aspects and characters of the show. It does answer some questions but after awhile you just throw up your hands and yell because you realize you've been played along.

Here is a tip for all you writers out there.  If your fans have to look on the internet just to get a vague idea of what the end of your story means then you have failed.  I feel like I am the victim of a long practical joke.  Something like Andy Kaufman might have come up with.

A long while back I went to see the movie Dune in a theater. I knew it was going to be bad when they handed out a flyer explaining who everyone was and the gist of the story.

But, in summary, wasn't the island some kind of purgatory?
Like unsettled ghosts they "moved on?" After the funeral scene in the last episode?

From what I gathered they survived the crash and did have the adventures on the Island which besides survival included time travel and temporal displacement. But when you died you died. The flash sideways seems to be a place that they created as they died to get back together not having anything to do with the timeline or what was happening on the Island at all.

I think the writers just got carried away with too many ideas and themes. Fringe touches on some cool ideas but manages to keep a good plot going.
