VERY clever idea for the nobody that drew up the ad.
Clever business ruse.

Now Mr Dingleberry has your email!
And you can get those government manuals free elsewhere on the web.

Very clever idea to create a mailing list from from a Dingleberry you wouldn't want to be connected with in the first place. He swears he won't sell your email or give it away. Of course not! He wants a customer base of his own emails. HE will use your email in the same way he promises not to let anyone else use your email. Its okay for him though.

Kudos to Mr Dingleberry for a business idea.

(Okay instructors, what can you give away free like this to improve your business?)

A question I´ve always wanted to ask concerning sites like the one I linked..
Are all such manuals etc, in the Public Domain? Pasting your info on someone else´s manual, is, to my mind unethical, even if it is Public Domain material.

Oh lots of people and companies do this.
For example, Paladin often collects up old books out of copyright and reprints them.
Its all legal.

Read the Terms and Conditions that this site posts:

Basically, what they are saying is that they hold all of the copyrights for the manuals that you download through them- WTF!  I guess what they are trying to avoid - which they cannot - is somebody gettting access to all the manuals that they have organised for internet download and then start their own squeeze page calling it "Combatives 102."  This guy is a Bozo!

One thing some people do is write a weekly newsletter to email.  Then they gather up a bunch of articles and turn it into an Ebook to sell or give away free.  This really only works if the newsletter is informational.  If it is just a sales pitch, then the Ebook would be a collection of sales pitches.

Another thing is an E-course, a series of usually 3-10 emails, each with how-to instructions on the topic, mailed weekly so if the customer is actually following the course he'd work on one part and then the next week get the other part.

These people are usually information marketers, usually selling courses on how to make money.  It might not work as well for martial arts/CQC/RBSD.

For either of these ideas you need a mailing list.

"One thing some people do is write a weekly newsletter to email."

And that is always a challenge. Like writing a blog. How many people THINK they are going to write a blog or a weekly newsletter and never get past two months. Or even the first month. If that long. No insider trick to that - you have to be a writer - compelled to write.

Each year, hell each month, each week even, news get zipped arounf faster and faster and it has become hard to collect news for a newsletter that isn't already easily availble somewhere on the net. Its hard to compete.

Hock- agree -its like the news gets printed just after it occurs-all around the world-
and if one is a member of a certain news blog you know it before some people who are supposed to know it find out about it.

I wold imagine that there is a news room in the whitehouse that searches all the time 24/7 and the news gets sent on to what ever section has to know it

I just joined USATODAY.COM-you get a heck of a lot of info from that one.

and of course I check out what is happening on HH combat talk forum- u always
get some great news there- ;D
