Belly Buttons...What?

Without reading the full article, it just seems like someone's following the "publish or perish" method of securing their academic grant funding and thus, existence.

After reading the article...there maybe something to the physiometric aspect to it, but really, Yahoo picked it up because the belly-button angle made it sound absurd.

Sorry, no offense intended. :) reading the headline just reminded my of my brother's comments about how (at least in the realm of Classics scholars) upon leaving grad school,  it was expected that he would "publish or perish" in an eventual search for tenure, etc. I guess such expectations have led to some rather outlandish, or at least fantastically minute and specialized, works.

If I may ask, on what subject are you writing your book?

You should read my engineering dissertation from 1990 - that will put you to sleep.  ;)

I for one will be writing my next book on female pubic hair.
High, Low? None? How does that relate to...well...anything?
Smarts? Performance? Run fast?
I have to figure it out!

Hey! Pubic or Perish! I mean....publish or perish!

Hock,
Just make it illustrated and you'll easily make #1 on the New York Times Best Seller list!

Guaranteed!

Of course, performing the research and collecting the data you need might be a priceless endeavor all by itself.  ;D

To make sure it is on the New York Times bestseller list you should make it the Virgin Mary's pubic hair, covered with elephant dung.  >:(

Will that be an instructional book?

Instructional? Not really.

Just a book of wondrous mystery, just as the belly button discovery was - only way less significant than my next subject.

It just is what it is.
