Joe- brother u r still the man-
Here are a few thoughts from the old sgtMaj

I hit 73 in sep-holy shit-73
I still can roll with the younger set
I changed my name to my hebrew name- Ari---so- its Ari,s Krav Maga-
If someone comes up to me and says -that ant right i will say-
Semper fucking fi-and show them my USMC TATOO on my forearm
and continue teaching till the big SgtMaj in the sky says Ari-come on up
Ill say yes sir- make a facing movement-and double time up the stairs-where i will
start my Ari Krav Maga unarmed self defense for who ever ....

Till then i will take Hocks courses whenever i can -help the unfortunate - watch your dvds-and keep on drinking  Vodka and blackberry chasers=
now back to the CQC posts- stay  safe and happy- WW

Sorry, I'm confused.  What is the connection between Krav Maga and the USMC?

I still think the t-shirt that had the statement on the back "Times Up Weenie Boy" was the all time best seller. Wear that shirt in the mall and see what type of reaction you get! ::)

Joe-the similarity is that both are winners-

How does that justify that you are teaching using the name Krav Maga with No Certifications, No Rank and No Lineage in Krav Maga?  Aren't you misleading your clients?

You can justify your actions with any old veneer, but that doesn't cover up the reality of the situation- does it?

Sorry Old Timer, I can't condone what you are doing.

When you see the aforementioned guy down the street who has never been a Marine wearing the Marine shirt and teaching Marine Combatives...what would you tell him?

Is your Rabbi a certified Krav Maga instructor at a senior level?  If not, your argument is moot.

Hi WW,
As a consumer I'd be a little put off if I went to a school that said it was KM and then turned out to be something else. It could also make me look a little silly if I met up with some KM guys and the good old lineage question came up.

I'm still not sure why you need to use the KM name rather than something like The White Wolf System of Self Defense or something along those lines?

If you advertise Krav Maga people expect recognizable Krav Maga training with the standard strikes and defenses that you would learn in Krav Maga along with the exercise.

You will be drawing in people by the name recognition of Krav Maga has built up

Of course some people have no idea of what is involved in Krav Maga and might not know the difference.

Krav Maga is a specific system.  It has not yet turned into a generic term like Karate has, since these days Karate signifies a wide number of specific systems.  Before Tae Kwon do had come to be known, it the schools sometimes listed themselves as Korean Karate.

Advertising yourself as something and not teaching it strikes me as dishonest.

No load-thanks for at least being polite in your response.
In 1980 or 81 I met a israeli who took Krav Maga and  he gave lessons at a jewish temple in cherry Hill NJ-I took the classes and was impressed so over the years untill now I took authentic Krav Maga classes and added the tactics that are taught to what I was studying all ready-which include tactics from various styles and instructors who
learned from their instructors and others-I have talked to a  lot of martial artists who have no problem with what I do-on the other hand some feel that I am not qualified-
so be it-
One thing for sure I am not dishonest -again i tell all who take a free lesson that what they are learning comes from tactics taught to me by instructors who have studied in Israel or by Israeli instructors-plus i tell them that I have studied with others and
name them-(which includes Hock who I think has a lot to offer students)
-if the prospective student is impressed he/she joins.
Each month I send a check out of what i  make to a instructor in another style who
forwards the money from me and many others to the wounded warriors who have brain damage from Iraq and Afganstan-again thanks for being polite with your thoughts-WW

Sorry, but if what you are teaching at your Krav maga school isn't identical to what other Krav Maga schools are teaching you should not be calling it Krav Maga.

Hock and Joe-i do appreciate your suggestions-really do..

Laker-the tactics i teach come from the instructors who have trained in Israel
and two of them have spent time in actual combat areas

It doesn't matter.  If you are not teaching the same things as someone would learn in a Krav Maga school it is dishonest to slap a Krav Maga sign in your window.

It is also dishonest because you are using krav Maga's name recognition to draw people.

Imagine if you went ito a restaurant with a name of Red Lobster and they told you that they are really not part of the chain and don't serve the same menu, and then claimed that their Italian food is rally good so you should try that.

Laker-last post on tis subject-the tactics taught are -i say are the tactics taught
by instructors who studied in Israel-
I.E.-the chief instructor of International Krav Maga-Heim Gidon =in poland trains in Israel I took lessons from him-
Oh -Red Lobster resturants are franchises-cooks come from all over the place and hired by the individual resturant-(i dont think any of the cooks studies Krav Maga though- ;D)
And although i  forgot to mention it-my school name for taxes in the city and county is
Executive Self Defense-which should cover me in case any one says i am robbing them
by using Ari,s Krav Maga
Laker lets get on with CQC info-
stay  safe- WW
