Should Faking Military Honors Be Illegal?

If some idiot wants to play Jim Wagner and make their pathetic life more interesting to his beer-buds, like the article said, who gives a flip? But when said lies generate business, revenue, and even gov't bennies? That is, IMHO, fraud and theft. And not even in the cases where people actually got funds designated for real vets. If Joe Dirt says he's an Army Ranger to bring in more students to his McDojo, he has acquired money through fraudulent means, and since he saw fit to drag the military into it, he ought then be subject to military law

Then he can really say he spend time in the Army...prison.
Or, just give real medal earners a few "get out of jail free" cards so they can beat the tar out of people who haven't earned the honors.
From the Times article...what idiot thinks an SF decorated uniform "looks cool" at paramedic training. At Training!? Not even graduation, but just during "training"!? After spending a decade working with fireguys and para-magics, all that'll do is make them think you're one large, hirsute, semi-flacid tool.
