Hello

Can somebody tell me what kind material old Hock`s combative videos contained ?
I have seen somewhere an old catalogue of VHS videos. I remember that one of the videos was "" SAS bastard mix", I think. There was hole series of those videos, there were probaly somekind theme set.

The videos? GONE! Long gone. I certainly would not recommend them compared the newer DVDs. If you find any? Burn them.

The old 1990s British Bastard Mix module was really the very start of hand, stick, knife, gun mixed weapons fighting courses. Mixed weapons. The more I worked on that the more I realized it was the truth...

It started this way...
In the mid-90s I saw a a book in a bookstore called Fist, Stick, Knife, Gun

I read the title and said "THAT is it! THAT is the truth! It is a truly a mixed weapon, world. (The book is supposed to be pretty good by the way, but I never read more than the title.)
Of course if you say the word "fist" in a training title, you are technically excluding important palm strikes, eye attacks, etc. I started to organize hand, stick, knife gun. Each year I work on turning it into "handtstickknifegun" like a one-word entity.  

But in the beginning I used an old, British military expression I'd heard somewhere about a bastard mix of weapons vs mixed weapons. I think from an old training film put on video. So the very beginning project in about 1996 was called this.

NOW, all of that has evolved in the Training Missions.

Very few people "get it." I mean they read it, but I don't think they get it. Enlightened Police do on a small scale. Enlightened military do. Martial artists generally don't as they are usually captured "in the patch" so to speak...doing that which only their school criteria, that flavor does. The closed doctrine becomes ingrained in you. Untrained citizens can get it, but usually are inexperienced in the details to execute it. Then they wander into a "patch school" seeking it and....But you can read and understand the concept, and not "get it" as the gut truth of modern fighting...modern...warrior..(and I HATE using the word)

Thank you for the answer.
I remenber, that the name was something " bastard and so on ". British Bastard Mix module  and other simillar tapes where mentioned in old one page brochure, that I recieved years ago, when odering the tapes of Pacific Archipelago combatives.

I have most of the old videos including Hock's Street Fighting series, Knife Fighting, SDMS and the old PAC range.  I have often tried to convince Hock to re-release the PAC and Street Fighting series videos on DVD.  I love the old PAC stuff and the Street Fighting series has some very cool footage throughout.  Highlights include a scientific breakdown of the Sheonage Takedown (this is a whole seminar's worth of material in it's own right) and the Leap Frog escape from the guard.

It funny because after Chael Sonnon spanked Anderson Silva with that double ear clap technique from the guard, I have since received emails from a BJJ guy who has started his own H2H system.  His promo material is using that technique because he saw Chael Sonnon using it in the last UFC.  Hock has been using that escape since the late 80s.

Ground fighting is slowly re-evolving/de-evolving back into the 1980s survival stuff. Kicks and strikes on the ground. Ground and pound, baby! ENOUGH of this wrestling.

But seriously today we have a better athlete and way better drills have evolved.

Most of the material in the older fims I really have redone, better and smarter on DVD. But Barhhart was more flexable back then, as I tried to kill him several times on film, but failed. (His wife hired me so she could collect the life insurance. "Make it look like an accident" she told me.)
