With over 400 Taliban within a 15 mile stretch in the valley between Chamkani, Afghanistan and Pakistan there is constant trouble. On my last road trip there, one of our trucks got hit with an IED that was contracted to deliver some inventory for us. It blew out all the windows except the small one on the driver’s side and knocked out the driver for a few minutes. He blacked out at first but luckily he recovered and took off driving. Right before that, we got lucky as a Taliban member blew himself up by accidently trying to get our small convoy within the city with a bomb of some sort. As the medics arrived, all they could do was pick up the pieces. We were a few hundred feet away and we could hear and feel the explosion, we decided not to head back for several days.
Today my coworker, Adam calls and gives the following report from the same area (Note: names are changed and/or removed for security): "Our SF medics were called out to pick up two local Afghan guys that just got attacked by Taliban. As they drove into our compound I was there helping them take off one guy out of the truck. He had a tomahawk stuck in his upper backside close to his neck. The Taliban failed in their attempt to behead the guy. The other guy was also cut up and looking badly. Once we got the guy on the medic table he died. We began to work on the other guy but then the first guy came back to life. He still may not make it but to everyone's surprise both men were alive after being butchered with this these weapons from the past."
