Building the MA Business: Idea #3 - Tabling

I'm NOT suggesting that any one MA school would have any or all answers that a concerned citizen might have about self defense and such, but if a potential client is curious and going to attend some classes, they might as well attend yours and not some LLAP-GOCH sham."

Which leads us to our next MABO idea...tabling. Share your horror and success stories!

Most years, we attend a Summer Camp Festival in the middle of winter. There are over a 100 different businesses crammed into the halls and cafeteria of a local middle school, all offering interesting activities in the summer. From overnight camps to half day camps like us, the options are seemingly endless.

At a relatively reasonable cost, we're given a table, some chairs and a spot to promote our Summer Karate Camp for kids, which runs all August every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

At first, we were quite successful. We talked to maybe 200 to 300 people and gained about a half dozen campers. Over the years, the returns have diminished to the point where it probably isn't worth going any more.

But, if you have a martial arts business that serves kids, this could be a really good opportunity to get the word out about your school, for minimal cost with minimal effort.

Call your local school district and see if they have a similar event.
