Several MA people including myself got this scam email below. Same pattern. Quote a figure, they

  a) get your bank account number to wire/send the money
  b) accidently write an international check for too much (its a bad anyway0 and want you
      so send (better wire...its faster for them) the "change back."

I got that same email today.  I've received similar ones in the past, including one that wanted me to teach a group class in Yoga.

I've had similar, bad / dodgy E's. I have code word's that family and friends use in the title line of email's if I don't see that, they just get deleted straight away.
